Lucy Durack has fast become one of Australia’s leading ladies of screen and stage with a list of major roles to her credit, most recently including Glinda the Good Witch in the original Australian cast of the Broadway smash hit musical “Wicked” and Cherry in the highly anticipated feature film Goddess (due for release 2012), and is now adding recording artist to the already extensive list of achievements; an astounding achievement so early in this young performer’s sky rocketing career.
‘Dream A Little Dream’ is a collection of well known, well loved covers of easy listening classics as well as original songs written by Lucy herself. Her first single, a beautiful rendition of Renée Geyer’s ‘Heading In The Right Direction’ is released digitally on July 27th.
"I am so excited to be releasing this, my first album”, says Durack, “That is filled with songs I have loved all my life as well as a few new ones that I am so happy to share. Growing up in suburban Perth, I sang these songs in my bedroom a lot so getting to record them really is a dream come true. I firmly believe in dreaming and then working towards your goals- whatever they may be - until they become a reality. If I can do it - you can too."
In addition to her debut album release, Lucy is about to embark on a lengthy run of performances as the leading role of “ELLE” in “LEGALLY BLONDE – The Musical” which opens at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney from October 4.
Lucy Durack will release her debut album entitled “Lucy Durack” through ABC Music on September 28.
