JENNY QUEEN RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘LET HER GO’ – From the album ‘Small Town Misfits’, Out Now

Sydney-based US country-folk singer Jenny Queen is back with her new single ‘Let Her Go’, lifted from the album “Small Town Misfits”, which was released earlier this year.

‘Let Her Go’ rides the ridge between Tex-Mex and country, its hook “You might as well be holding a shadow” twists the knife deftly, with the help of Shane Nicholson’s vocals and evocative slide guitar.

Here’s what Jenny has to say:

This song grew from my thinking about the moment when you wake up, after a heartbreak, and you’re hung-over and confused, and suddenly you remember you’re on your own, and you're poleaxed all over again.  It spun out from there to address the extra stab of playing out a very private moment on a public stage.

Shane Nicholson’s backing vocals were sort of ninja-ed in. We recorded it late one night and I went home to get some sleep. The next morning when I came in to the studio, he played me his haunting vocal. Beautiful ninja vocals.

SMALL TOWN MISFITS is an album that’s going to make a strong impact on Australian roots music in 2014. A winning combination of powerful songs and Queen’s unmistakably raw, emotional delivery should propel her toward a new audience.
