In 2001, ABC TV broadcast a six part documentary that charted the history of Australian Rock ‘n’ Roll, from the 50’s through to the modern era. The documentary, that featured Australian artists from Johnny O’Keefe, Little Patti and Billy Thorpe through to Midnight Oil, Kylie Minogue and INXS offered an insight into our rich history of 50 years of rock ‘n’ roll.
In 2002, Long Way To The Top became a live concert event. 26 Australian artists joined together in a massive celebration of homegrown rock & roll that played all around Australia to 200,000 people. The brainchild of Billy Thorpe and promoter Michael Chugg, Long Way To The Top featured Australia’s major rock & rollers from the Stadium era to Sunbury.
In October, proving you can’t keep a good thing down, 17 legends of Australian rock will reunite for the Long Way to the Top 10th Anniversary Concert, hitting arenas in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane from Friday 5 October.
