Murwillumbah singer-songwriter Emmagen Rain has been making a splash on the country music scene recently and now the Australian charts are reflecting the young star's hard work with her latest single.
Earlier in the year, Emmagen produced and co-wrote 'City Lights Call' with Liam Quinn (Guy Sebastian), the track is an insanely catchy slice of country pop that shows off Emmagen's sparkling vocals.
Within days of being uploaded, 'City Lights Call' debuted #1 on the triple j Unearthed chart, staying in the top position for two consecutive weeks.
“When I first heard City Lights Call debuted at #1 on the Unearthed charts I was super happy and surprised! The 2nd week at #1 was the cherry on top!!" Emmagen says.
The song garnered dozens of positive reviews from around Australia and caught the eye of triple j tastemaker Dave Ruby Howe.
"I've gotta give [Emmagen] such credit for ['City Lights Call']! Following the blueprint of Taylor Swift, Lennon & Maisy with this kind of super polished, youthful country pop. Pretty good company to be in!" he said of the tune.
Amazed with the response, Emmagen sees her Unearthed success as the next step in her journey as an artist.
"Being an artist is the only thing I see myself doing...I wrote [City Lights Call] because I have a feeling that there is an exciting life waiting for me in the city," Emmagen says of her breakthrough track.
Emmagen, who has been singing since she was nine-years-old, has been slowly on the rise since she took out the People’s Choice Award at Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking Championship in 2018.
Since then she's picked up the 2019 World Junior Karaoke Championship in Las Vegas, the 2020 Tamworth’s Coca Cola Battle of the Young Stars and performed with some of Australian country stalwarts like The Bushwackers and Amber Lawrence - all while studying at the Tamworth Junior Music Academy.
The single will take on a whole new life on April 24th when it's officially released onto streaming platforms. Now is the time to jump on the Emmagen Rain bandwagon because it's only up from here.
