“Full of simple joy,” is how the Sydney Morning Herald’s Bernard Zuel described Sarah Humphreys 2011 EP release Him – and not a truer word could be spoken of this unassuming songwriter.
2012 brings about the next chapter in the little book of Sarah Humphreys, with the release of her much-anticipated second full-length album, Hello. Produced by Matt Fell and occasionally reminiscent of the powerful warmth of Kirsty MacColl, Hello is a magical and dreamy soundscape full of tenderness and honesty that shows all the beauty in Sarah’s songwriting.
Since the release of her debut album Teapot Trees & Love Birds in 2008, Sarah has garnered much industry respect and in 2009 was crowned the ABC Music Artist of the Year. Her songs have featured in numerous movie and TV soundtracks and most recently her song Lead Balloon was covered and released by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson.
The remainder of 2012 will see Sarah traverse the country and share her special gift in towns big and small. With an old suitcase full of little instruments, expect the unexpected.
Sarah Humphreys is ready to say Hello.
