Melbourne outfit The Tiger & Me have scored a major coup, with their haunting song ‘Other Friends Have Flown Before’ used in the trailer for one of this year’s most anticipated local films, Tim Winton’s The Turning. The film, in cinemas from September 26, features Australian cinema royalty Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving and Miranda Otto alongside the likes of Rose Byrne, Richard Roxburgh, Callan Mulvey and more.
‘Other Friends Have Flown Before’ is lifted from the band’s sophomore album ‘The Drifter’s Dawn’, which was released in October 2012 through ABC Music imprint Four|Four and produced by Steven Schram (Little Birdy, The Cat Empire, San Cisco). It is the closing track from the album and is a beautiful slice of the signature Tiger & Me dark-edged pop-leaning folk sound.
