Australian Country Music’s hottest new duo, McAlister Kemp have completed a stellar debut year with news they are a finalist in four categories for the 2011 Country Music Awards of Australia (Golden Guitars).
They were nominated in the categories of Best New Talent, Group/Duo of the Year, Vocal Collaboration of the year (with Adam Brand) and Song of the Year (for ‘It Don’t Buy You Love’, written by Drew McAlister and Mike Carr). The awards take place on January 22, 2011.
This news follows a year of encouraging industry, chart and media recognition.
McAlister Kemp’s debut album All Kinds Of Tough debuted at #8 on the ARIA Country Sales Charts and went to #1 on the iTunes Country Sales chart in October 2010.
Their debut single ‘All Kinds Of Tough’ topped the National Country Singles Charts and their latest single ‘Hell Yeah’ was a CMC Country Pick and was performed live across Australia to a national television audience on Hey Hey It’s Saturday. ‘Hell Yeah’ has also jumped to #6 on this week’s CMC Top 30 Countdown.
McAlister Kemp been invited to perform at the 2011 CMA Music Festival Global Artist Showcase in Nashville. The CMA Music Festival is the biggest country music festival in the world, with over 200,000 people expected to attend.
In October, they were also selected to represent country music and perform at the annual Commercial Radio Australia New Artists To Radio Showcase - attended and supported by all of Australian commercial radio’s top programmers.
