ABC Music have announced the signing of Melbourne based indie rock band, Blackchords who leap head first into 2013 with a new album and SXSW/Canadian Music Week shows to boot.
The band spent the beginning of 2012 in the studio with renowned Grammy award winning producer David Odlum (The Frames, Gemma Hayes, Josh Ritter, Luka Bloom), releasing the first single ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ and touring the country and are now set to release their 2nd studio album A Thin Line in April 2013.
Their debut self-titled album Blackchords was released in 2009 and garnered much respect from fans who then went on to fund the bands second album through a fan-funded internet campaign.
“The result is A Thin Line, which whilst the album retains the dark and introspective soul of Blackchords, it also paints a broader and sometimes chemical landscape, drawing on keyboards, vintage guitars, DX and electronic programming previously unused by the band”
Their second single Oh No from the forthcoming album will be available digitally on the 18th January followed by single launch shows in both Sydney & Melbourne.
The band have also been invited to perform alongside some of the world’s most prominent emerging artists of 2012 at the SXSW Music Conference & Canadian Music Week.
Single Launch dates:
Friday, Feb 15th Ding Dong Lounge, Melbourne
Saturday Feb 23rd The Gallery Bar, Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
